The Sports and Tech Meetup group is having an All-Star Analytics Panel (click here for more information) The organizer Michael Frank (@michaelwfrank) kindly asked the Wages of Wins community to contribute. The meeting will take place at 6 PM Pacific Time on July 24th (hopefully it will be streamed, but if not, there will be video after) Michael asked if the Wages of Wins community could leave some good analytics questions for their star-studded panel — Ben Alamar is among them, and he works with the Cavaliers, who have been making moves lately! So leave your comments below, and Michael will pick some to ask at the panel!
Also, if you’re in the Bay Area (like Jeremy Britton, Chris Yeh, and Josh Weil), then you should definitely attend. All you need to do is sign up (link again, in case you missed it), and Mike says the more the merrier. I’m sad I won’t be able to attend in person, but psyched the Wages of Wins community can be a part of it. Also, here’s a list of the panelists to peruse before leaving your questions (copied from the meeting notes).
Benjamin Alamar – Senior Analytics Consultant, Cleveland Cavaliers. Former Director of Basketball Analytics, Oklahoma City Thunder. Has consulted and advised many other professional teams and startups. Economics Professor.
Mike Greenfield – Founder, Team Rankings. Early data and analytics team member at LinkedIn and PayPal. Angel Investor.
Barry Eggers – Founder and Managing Director, Lightspeed Venture Partners.
